Retreat Information
Insight Dialogue (ID) is a relational meditation practice, grounded in the wisdom tradition of the buddha-dharma. In ID practice we extend the profound benefits of solitary meditation into being with others. We acknowledge the reality that we are social beings and engage with the complexity of being with others, as a potential path to freedom. We meditate together, recognising and unbinding the relational knots that cause suffering in our lives.
The retreat will be held within a container of noble silence. The relational meditation dialogues, are structured meditative practices undertaken in pairs or small groups. You will learn six meditative guidelines to support your relational practice, and life.
Two retreat weekends will be offered in November and December, addressing different topics:
1. 3rd-5th NOVEMBER: EXPLORING THE FOUR NOBLE TRUTHS
During this weekend retreat we will experientially explore the Buddha’s foundational teachings on the Four Noble Truths. The Buddha encourages us to know the reality of suffering (dukkha) for ourselves, the experiential fact of suffering, the causes of suffering, the reality that there is an end to suffering, and the path that leads to this end. Together we will explore this teaching within the context of our practice and our lives.
Check in: Friday 3 November, 9.30-15.30.
Check out: Sunday 5 November, after the retreat finishes (latest 18.30).
The retreat will begin on the morning of Saturday, 4 November.
2. 1st-3rd DECEMBER: ENGAGING THE EIGHT-FOLD PATH
The Buddha’s teachings offer a clear and pragmatic map for reducing the stress and suffering in our lives. In his formative teachings he described an eight-fold path that leads to freedom from suffering. Over these two days, we will take this map and experientially explore how it relates in the context of our lives and relationships.
Check in: Friday 1 December, 9.30-15.30.
Check out: Sunday 3 December, after the retreat finishes (latest 18.30).
The retreat will begin on the morning of Saturday, 2 December.
